I first heard of using VR headsets to simulate being in a museum while virtually displaying the actual artworks last semester. I initially had mixed feelings as I believed no VR experience could replace the experience of directly seeing an artwork in the physical environment of a museum. However, after being able to use the VR set and understand all of the benefits that come with this technology, I now see a space for VR in museums. VR not only allows for viewers to come as close as they want to the piece and explore all aspects of the piece, it also allows for individuals with disabilities to interact with art in a way they may never be able to do in a traditional museum setting.
